Detailed Reference Checks

An essential component of our pre-employment background screening is Reference Checking. Reference formats are tailored to meet specific client requirements so as to capture the data that is most beneficial to the employer.

Our compliance staff will make contact with each referee directly – we do not send out automated e-mail, faxes, questionnaires etc. as these typically lead to poor quality responses.  Our approach is both professional and personal resulting in high-quality reference checks and informative reference reports.

Some companies are reluctant to provide detailed information relating to previous employees or have H.R. policies that restrict/prohibit detailed references, however our experienced staff will acquire all possible information and all referee comments are documented in real time.

Employment History Validation

RecruitSafe will make direct contact with previous employers to validate the information on the candidate’s CV. Dates of employment and position held are verified and any discrepancies are noted and explanation sought from candidate.

Identity & Address Documentation

The purpose of Identity and Address documentation is to confirm the person’s identity and right to work. Documents under this category include but are not limited to:

  • Passport

  • Proof of Address
  • GNIB

Qualification Validation

RecruitSafe’s qualification validation checks, verify that the qualifications stated by the candidate’s C.V. are true. A significant percentage of candidates misrepresent themselves on their C.V.’s claiming exaggerated or false qualifications.

RecruitSafe’s pre-employment background vetting process will protect Employers from this risk. RecruitSafe checks qualifications claimed by the candidate by validating true certificate copies through to validation at source from the awarding academic bodies and professional institutions.

Credit & Directorship Checks

For employers in certain sectors it is important to know as part of employee background screening the financial background of their employees. In some sectors, it is a mandatory compliance item e.g. Fitness & Probity – Central Bank Reform Act.

RecruitSafe has extensive experience in performing credit checks and reporting on judgment history, satisfactions, bankruptcies etc.

A full search of Directorship history is conducted under the candidate’s name. This also includes disqualified Directors.

Public Domain Search

RecruitSafe performs a series of internet searches that are in the public domain under websites, images, social networks, etc. and will point out to the employer any areas of risks that are identified.

EU Aviation Pre-Employment Screening – I.A.A.

All staff that work in Company warehouses and shipping departments who pack goods or mail for air cargo transportation are subject to screening that meets EU/IAA regulation. This includes permanent, temporary agency staff, drivers etc. Companies can be audited at any time to ensure that the screening checks as required by regulation are completed on each employee and that documentary evidence is on file for such checks.

The required checks are both precise and comprehensive as an individual’s history has to be accounted for on a month by month basis. Gathering and verifying such information can be onerous, time consuming and gives opportunity for inconsistencies.  RecruitSafe provides a screening solution that meets these requirements, ensuring your warehouse and shipping staff are fully compliant and HR files contain the necessary documentation required for compliance.

Drug and Alcohol Screening

As required by clients, RecruitSafe provides a drug testing facility in a clinic that is local and convenient to the client.

The test is non-invasive and should not take more than 15 minutes to complete. RecruitSafe will schedule the appointment to suit the client and the candidate’s availability.

A detailed report is sent directly to the client upon completion.
